Flying Lotus’ feature film Kuso premiered at Sundance Film Festival on Saturday. The reviews that have surfaced from the film’s screenings detail its more grotesque moments. There’s gore, genital mutilation, a scene where a man has sex with a talking boil, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Not everyone was a fan. During one screening, a “large chunk” of the crowd left early and “walk-outs continued in a consistent stream up to the final scene,” The Verge reports. FlyLo has since clarified that “only like 20 people out of like 400” walked out.

He went on to answer fans’ questions about the film, teasing its imminent soundtrack release, hinting at a forthcoming, Jodorowsky-inspired follow-up, and describing Kuso as being similar to “that feeling when u know u made a glorious poo and low key wanna show it off.”

The Verge’s full review outlines more of the film’s gory details that caused people to walk away. George Clinton appears in the film—he plays a doctor who keeps a medicinal cockroach in his anus. In an interview at Sundance, Flying Lotus says he approached Clinton for the role by texting him, “Would you mind showing your butthole on camera?” While a representative for the film confirms the nature of Clinton’s appearance, he clarified that his “real ass” does not appear in Kuso.
